Shane Shane’s Biodiversity Fire Sphere is constructed from a 500-gallon propane tank from the 1950s. “The ecosystem is important to every creature,” explains Shane. “Each part is represented in this piece.” This sculpture is hand-cut by the artist and includes dolphins, elephants, rhinos, an owl, a wolf and various sea creatures. The sphere was first exhibited at the Burning Man Festival in Black Rock Desert, Nevada.
Featured fire sculptors in the 2017 Fire Arts Festival include Keith D’Angelo, Ryon Gesink, Justin Gray, Shane Shane, Jamie Vaida, Joshua Birkmaier and Caitlin Morris.

All fire sculptures are ignited on the hour, starting at 5pm, on the Breckenridge Arts District campus from January 26–29, 2017.

This event is part of the 2017 Fire Arts Festival, a multi-day exhibition featuring burning sculptures, fiery performances and other spark-filled attractions throughout the Breckenridge Arts District campus. Presented by Breckenridge Creative Arts in conjunction with the International Snow Sculpture Championships and part of Colorado Mountain College’s 50th anniversary celebration.
