“Ding Dong, Merrily on High” kicks off the annual High Country Holidays Concert and Goodie Sale, presented by the Summit Choral Society, Summit Community Orchestra and Summit Concert Band, joining together with students from Summit High School and Middle School choirs along with the ringers of the Handbell choir from Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church. Enjoy favorite holiday tunes, from sacred and secular to old-world classics and modern riffs. The concert takes place on Sunday, December 9, 2018, 6:00 p.m. at the Riverwalk Center.
Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5.
Prior to the concert, give your taste buds a delight by visiting our Holiday Goodie Sale, starting at 5:00 p.m., where members of the musical groups show off their baking and candy-making skills. The goodies will be offered for sale by the pound so you can choose a variety of treats to take home – if you can resist eating them immediately. The sale will also showcase handcrafted pottery plates and assorted gift items. All proceeds from the sale help to defray the expenses of the concert.
Highlights of the concert include individual pieces by each group and instrumental & choral collaborations like “The Very Best Time of Year” and “Christmas Lullaby” from the pen of the most-celebrated composer of Carols, John Rutter. The concert will take listeners from main street to Broadway with tunes like “Snowy Celebration” and “Christmas on Broadway.” Youngsters will get an early visit from Santa while the Grinch, with help from the Summit High School choir, tries to steal the show.
Everyone gets to join in with a sing-a-long as more than 100 musicians join forces on “A Christmas Festival,” with favorites like “Deck the Hall,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, “Silent Night,” and “Jingle Bells!” Come create your High Country Holiday memories here!
