W Wellington Trail
Concerning Plants is a playful interpretation of the mysterious and complex networks of plant communication.  The inflatable sculpture winds through the trees as if a strange root system emerges from the ground, both alien and natural.  It is a thing which has grown up above the surface to give us a glimpse of the mythic and invisible networks down below.

Nicole Banowetz is an artist based out of Denver, Colorado. She makes sewn inflatable sculptures and delicate assembled forms, which move freely between growth and decay blurring the distinction between decoration and disease. Inspired by the natural world, Banowetz’s work addresses human qualities while using the imagery she finds in the animal, plant, mineral and bacterial worlds.
