Edwin Carter’s log cabin home was also his workshop where he dedicated his life to preserving the Rocky Mountain species through taxidermy after seeing the devastating effect mining had on the environment and wildlife.  After his death, his collection of almost 3,300 specimens formed the nucleus of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
