While in Breckenridge, Oliver hopes to continue working on her Vulnerability/Boundary Sweaters series which involves participation from people willing to divulge phrases that they have used to set boundaries or be vulnerable with other people. The project showcases how communication can happen in multitudes of ways. She is also interested in creating other collaborative experiences that utilize commutation and yarn in less direct ways like installation pieces that include viewer participation.

Emma Oliver is a sculpture and expanded media artist working with yarn and fiber. She enjoys making large scale sculpture and toying with a viewer’s concept of what yarn and textile is capable of. Oliver is most interested in topics of communication and playful self-critique in her work. She is wrapping up her MFA from Illinois State University in May of 2022 and graduated with her BFA from Alfred University in 2018.
