Robert Cray’s musical journey is marked by an authentic dedication to the craft, beginning with an early exposure to a diverse range of music in the 1960s and extraordinary experiences like having Albert Collins play at his high school graduation. His passion led him from a teenage garage band to sharing stages with some of the greatest legends in music including B.B. King, Eric Clapton, and The Rolling Stones. Despite the challenges of early setbacks like the bankruptcy of Tomato Records after recording his debut album, Cray’s commitment never wavered. His relentless dedication to quality music enabled him to build a following through extensive touring across the Pacific Northwest and eventually to break through on a global scale with the acclaimed album “Strong Persuader.”

Robert Cray’s influence and success continued to grow throughout his career, highlighted by multiple Grammy wins and induction into the Blues Hall of Fame. He consistently delivered powerful performances and maintained a strong connection with his audience through 150 live shows annually. His recent albums, including “That’s What I Heard” produced by Steve Jordan, demonstrate his ongoing mastery and commitment to blues and soul music. Cray’s work is not just about achieving personal success but also about enriching the music industry and touching the lives of his fans. His ethos—”If you put your heart and soul into it, people will respond”—aptly summarizes the essence of his enduring appeal and artistic integrity.
