Come rock with four local bands and help Save South Park (savesouthparkco.org) raise money in a fight to prevent further destruction of our pristine environment by Discovery Channel’s “Gold Rush” and other irresponsible mining entities. See the truth behind “reality” TV. We will feature a short documentary by local filmmaker/activist Todd Anders Johnson. We will present speakers and provide musical entertainment by Salem, Split Window, Sweet Alma Soul Sisters, and Gladyys Kravitzz. There will be food, drinks, and a silent auction.

Save South Park is a coalition of citizens who support and promote the preservation of the natural beauty and the peaceful mountain lifestyle of Park County. We seek a sensible balance between mining development and quality of life for residents. We strive to ensure that decisions on appropriate land use proposed by local, state and federal officials receive adequate public vetting before being made, are enforced and protect all residents, their property values and their natural environment. We are currently trying to reverse a decision by the Park County Commissioners who approved rezoning residential acreage to mining and allegedly violated the Open Meetings Act. A big influence on this decision was the desire for the show “Gold Rush” to have greater access to land they could excavate for gold, all for the benefit of their TV show. Their track record in other locations is far from ideal. We do not want corporate greed destroying the landscape and influencing our county officials. Ultimately, we want to prevent “Gold Rush” from returning to Park County.

Salem performs Todd Anders Johnson’s socially-conscious compositions blending jazz, world, jam, hip hop and funk. The backcountry snowboarder and skier-based band travels with Risan Project tours which include concerts, ski and snowboard film premiers, avalanche awareness videos with partners in the cannabis and outdoor industries. Salem has played the Winter X 12 Games, the US Freeskiing Open, The US Snowboarding Grand Prix, the US Snowboarding VISA Cup, the Canadian Freeskiing Championships, the Breckenridge Spring Massive, the Keystone River Run Rocks and the Northface Masters of Snowboarding.

Salem has performed nationally alongside acts such as Karl Denson, Keller Williams, Rose Hill Drive, Pato Banton, De La Soul, Sweatshop Union, The Meters (PBS), Bone Thugs N Harmony, DJ Logic, Stanton Moore and Will Bernard, Hells Belles, Tab Benoit, Rebirth Brass Band, Steve Earle and Zilla. Salem music is featured in “Tailgate Alaska: The Movie”, the Teva Stand Up Paddling Educational DVD, Hiroyuki Yamada’s “End of the Line”, Warren Miller’s “Off the Grid”, the Winter X 12 Games After Party CD Compilation and the Bolder Boulder CD compilation.

“Salem unites seemingly disparate topics: global peace and powder shots. Blending jazz, funk, spoken word and some Afro-Cuban beats, it makes crowds dance and think.” Katy Niner, Jackson Hole News and Guide
