Floating Brass with National Repertory Orchestral is a featured collaboration at WAVE: Light + Water + Sound, an exhibition of cutting-edge works of contemporary public art presented from May 30–June 2, 2019. The free four-night festival features interactive artworks, temporary installations and performances in and around the Blue River Plaza in downtown Breckenridge, transforming the river, bridges and waterfront area into outdoor canvases, stages and exhibition spaces.

Funding for WAVE is generously provided by the Town of Breckenridge and the National Endowment for the Arts, with media support from Mountain Living.

THE PARTNER
The National Repertory Orchestra is a preeminent intensive fellowship that equips young musicians for orchestral music careers while providing the highest-level of musical experience for all stakeholders. Based in Breckenridge, the NRO performs an annual eight-week summer season in residence at Riverwalk Center.

Featuring cellist Russick Smith, Through the Blue is a concert of cascading melodies on a tiny island between the banks of the Blue River.

Nightly performances at 8pm and 10pm.

Through the Blue is a featured performance at WAVE: Light + Water + Sound, an exhibition of cutting-edge works of contemporary public art presented from May 30–June 2, 2019. The free four-night festival features interactive artworks, temporary installations and performances in and around the Blue River Plaza in downtown Breckenridge, transforming the river, bridges and waterfront area into outdoor canvases, stages and exhibition spaces.

THE ARTIST
Russick Smith is a cellist, multi-instrumentalist, engineer, and composer from Colorado. His music is derived from a life of experiences as intriguing as they are varied and rooted in the American West. He plays across a wide variety of genres using cello, electric bass, double bass, piccolo bass, mandolin, dobro, piano, tiple, concertina, and shamisen while also programming drum tracks, synthesizers, and playing various percussive devices. He is also credited on one album playing the didgeridoo.

Educational outreach programs, children’s films, celebrity guests, educational forums and workshops for all ages and other events celebrating the art of film, contribute to the festival’s diverse program.
